Lutherans believe that we can’t do anything to earn God’s love and mercy–it’s given to us freely, as a gift, for the sake of Jesus Christ!
Serving is our response to that incredible gift. Doing works of justice, love, and goodness for all of God’s people is part of our witness to the amazing grace we’ve already received.

CAFÉ OF LIFE
CVLC is committed to supporting the Café of Life, a local food program that serves meals to those in need in our community. From the fall through the spring, volunteers from Christus Victor cook, deliver, and serve meals at the Café of Life every Tuesday.
SENIOR MINISTRY FOOD PROJECT
Twice each month members gather to provide meals to seniors in the community through the Café of Life program designed for seniors who are food insecure.
“Just as you did unto the least of these… you did it unto me.”

MEALS OF MERCY
Sometimes life circumstances such as a surgery, a death, or a birth make it difficult for people to get food on the table. The goal of this ministry is to provide a home-cooked meal to those who could most use them. Providing this small gift to others in their time of need is a valuable service that lightens both the receiver and the giver!
FOOD DONATIONS
Through its members and collected year-round, CVLC is dedicated to providing Non-Perishable Food and Personal Care Items to a variety of local charitable organizations who have the resources to distribute these much-needed items.
While any kind of food is welcome (only non-expired foods accepted), CVLC also has a special food collection item each month. Items are placed in grocery carts in the Outreach Room.

CVLC COLLECTS
Christus Victor is steadfast in collecting a variety of items for the community that are much needed.
Currently we collect:
- Pop Tops
- Ink Jet Cartridges
- Cell Phones (in good condition)
- Eyeglasses
- Yarn
CLOTHING
There is a large bin in the CVLC Outreach Center for gently worn clothes with no holes or stains. Shoes cannot be accepted.
These are given to a variety of local community organizations who provide them to those in need.
Also needed are towels, sheets, and small kitchen appliances
“NO BAKE” SALE
Don’t feel like baking? We understand…Each year around Palm Sunday we collect the money you might have spent on baking goods and donate it to the ELCA [Evangelical Lutheran Church in America] World Hunger Organization.
“UNDY” SUNDAY
Every August, we collect underwear and socks to help clothe children as they prepare to go back to school. We join with Catholic Charities in providing these items to those in need within the Collier County Public School System.
“CHRISTMAS” IN JULY
It’s an opportunity for us to provide items to the Immokalee Friendship House during the summer when their resources are much lower.
We collect toys, clothing, personal care items and so much more.
SMALL CHANGE MINISTRY
Small change can lead to big changes!
In the CVLC Lobby you can find a small white model church where you can “lighten” your pockets or purse of small change.
The donations are given quarterly to local charities, including Café of Life, Immokalee Friendship House, St. Matthew’s House, Lutheran Outdoor Ministries, Bonita Assistance, and the Guadalupe Center.

PRAYER CHAIN
Prayer is what ties us to God AND to one another. Our Prayer Forum keeps abreast of the prayer needs of our members, the community, and the world.
Regular e-mail blasts keep those on the various Prayer Chains updated on the needs and progress of those on the CVLC Prayer List.
PRAYER SHAWLS
Prayer Shawls are knitted or crocheted creations with prayers that the wearer will feel God’s presence woven into each stitch.
Completed shawls are available in our Outreach Center – pick one up to give to someone who needs to feel wrapped in God’s Love!
Yarn for making prayer shawls yourself are also available in the Outreach Center.
ELCA RELIEF & DEVELOPMENT
Through our membership in the ELCA, we are able to participate in denomination-wide projects for global service.
For example, once a year we hold a “No Bake Sunday,” where instead of launching a full-on bake sale, members are invited to simply donate what they’d pay for a homemade baked treat. The collection goes to ELCA World Hunger.

COMPANION SYNODS
Christus Victor is linked to the global Lutheran family through our membership within the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The ELCA Companion Synod Program connects 65 ELCA synods in over 120 international companion relationships.
Through these companion relationships, members of ELCA synods live out our calling toward mission alongside the rich gifts and witness of Lutheran churches in Africa, Latin America, Asia, Eastern Europe, or the Middle East
Our Florida-Bahamas Companion Synods are:
- Haiti (Lutheran World Relief project)
- Jamaica (United Theological College of the West Indies)
- Lutheran Church in Guyana
- Evangelical Lutheran Church in Suriname
- Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cuba
SPECIAL COLLECTIONS
From time to time, Christus Victor Lutheran Church is led, whether through special occasions or connections within the congregation, to other opportunities to support mission globally. Often, we learn as a congregation about such opportunities through Temple Talks before Sunday worship and collect special offerings for these causes as part of our worship. Recent special offering recipients have included a new mission start (The Community Church) at Babcock Ranch, the Fund for Leaders Campaign of the ELCA, World Hunger, The Café of Life, and Disaster Responses throughout the U.S.
