- Osterlars Kirke – Bornholm, Denmark – an island in the Baltic Sea that is closer to Sweden than most of Denmark. The church (East Lars) is named for St Lawrence possibly built by the Knights Templar in the 11th century and is round with an observation tower. May have been a fortress at first. Flat Luther enjoyed seeing it.

- Today Al & Deb took Flat Luther to North Jutland, Denmark where he saw the Lutheran Cathedral of Aalborg built on the ruins of a pervious stone church from the 10th century. This building was first listed in 1399.

- the Historic City Center he visited St Mary’s Basilica. The largest brick gothic cathedral in Europe started in 1343 and completed 159 years later. Catholic until the Reformation, then Lutheran till 1945. The small chapel in front was built by the catholic King once the Lutherans took over for the small remaining catholic population.

- Flat Luther visited a Lutheran Church in Bergen, Norway build in 1632 on top of the ruins of the former bishop’s palace from decades before. The Angel hanging from the ceiling was lowered and a bowl placed in the wreath for Baptisms. The composer Edvard Greig was baptized here.

- Flat Luther visited Norway’s only remaining medieval monastery, The Abbey of Utstein built between 1,000 and 1,200 AD. Standing in the courtyard, the Rectory and the Sanctuary brought back many memories of monastic life for him.

- Flat Luther visited Gdansk, Poland today. First the memorial at the ship yard where Lech Wolensa(sp?) led the strikes that brought down communism in Poland. (The scale model pictured allows blind folks to “see” the memorial).
