Restoration is at the heart of sabbaticals for pastors. It is a time away from the daily demands and functions of ministry to restore mind, body, and spirit. Pastoral ministry can wear one out and can lead to burnout. Sabbatical provide important opportunities for restoration.
CVLC offers sabbaticals to its pastors after each four years of service. For the last six months, both pastors have been working with the Council, staff, and additional leaders to set the stage for a pastoral sabbatical this Fall.
Throughout the month of August, Pastor Walt shared a weekly Adult Sunday School class on plans that are underway.
While Pastor Walt is away, Pastor Courtney has been named by Council as the Acting Lead Pastor. She will be guiding the staff and ministries to ensure continuity, sustainability, and maintain engagement.
Both pastor’s have prepared plans.
